 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: Talking about money can be stressful and complex, and I understand this more than you know. At this time, I do not take health insurance. However, your insurance provider may reimburse you for what is called "out-of-network" benefits.

Most out-of-network plans will cover some of the costs of your sessions. When you use an out-of-network insurance plan, you pay me directly. I provide you with a statement each month, which you then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I recommend you contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? How much is it and how much has been met?

  • What percentage of the therapy fee is covered?

  • Is there a maximum amount covered per session?

  • How many sessions are covered per year?

I know it seems like work, but at the same time it's important for you to be knowledgeable about your insurance plan and policy, so it's like a two-for-one deal where you come away more knowledgeable about your mental health benefits.

I am in the process of credentialing with a few insurance providers and will update the site accordingly.

Q: How much does therapy cost?

A: Before I answer this, I want to remind you that you are investing in your mental health. So, how important is it to you? Therapy is an investment in something that has the potential to affect you spiritually, mentally, and physically. My rate is $125.00 per session, and is comparable to the rates for this area.

Q: What methods of payment do you accept?

A: I accept cash, all major credit cards, HSA cards, and PayPal.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Clients are responsible for paying for all scheduled sessions. If cancellation occurs 24 hours or more before the appointment, I will make every effort possible to reschedule the missed session. The client will be responsible for paying the full fee for the session if the cancellation is less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.

Q:How often will we meet?

A: Sessions are scheduled weekly, but it also depends of the issues presented.

Q: How long are the sessions?

A: All sessions are 50-53 minutes long.

Q: Is my information confidential?

A: Communications between a client and therapist are completely confidential. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. I am required by law to report to the authorities the following circumstances:

  • If I suspect that an individual may be involved in child abuse, dependent adult abuse, or elder abuse.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person.

  • If a client intends to harm himself/herself. I will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

Q: Is Teletherapy an option for therapy?

A: Absolutely! There are some instances where attending therapy in person isn’t possible on a regular basis, if at all. Additionally, some people may feel more comfortable seeing a therapist from home while using web-based therapy. By using a secure, internet-based video conferencing service, we can hold sessions weekly. Online therapy is not the the best option for everyone, but let's have a discussion to see if web-based or teletherapy will work better for you.
